Rowland Recruitment are supporting an established small accountancy firm in Medway that is looking to welcome an experienced Accountant to its close knit team. The position offers plenty of variety, with responsibility for a broad portfolio of local owner managed businesses and individuals.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who prefers the personal approach of a smaller practice, enjoys direct client contact and wants to play a meaningful part in the day to day success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare annual accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Complete corporation tax, personal tax and VAT returns
- Manage bookkeeping assignments and support clients with routine queries
- Assist with company formations and general business matters
- Plan and progress your own workload to meet filing and client deadlines
- Build strong working relationships with clients and liaise with HMRC
- Use cloud based systems to deliver work accurately
- Contribute ideas and practical support across the wider practice
- Supervise and mentor the more junior members of the team
- Provide support to the Partner to release some of their time and take on additional responsibility as you establish yourself in the role.
Ideal Candidate:
- Solid experience gained in an accountancy practice
- Confident completing accounts and tax work for a varied client portfolio
- Well organised, dependable and comfortable managing work independently
- A personable communicator who enjoys getting to know clients
- Good working knowledge of accounting and tax software would be useful
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualifications are desirable, although relevant experience is equally valued
