This need has arisen for a capable and hands-on Accountant to join a small and well established accountancy firm based in West Sussex. This firm forms part of a wider group but operates locally with a close-knit feel, offering a varied and interesting role for someone who enjoys being part of a traditional-style practice.

Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of small to medium-sized businesses
- Supporting clients with tax returns, VAT submissions and general compliance
- Assisting with company formations and basic advisory work where needed
- Using TaxCalc for accounts production and tax; a solid understanding of the system would be useful. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Keeping client records up to date – this role will suit someone comfortable with a mix of digital and paper-based processes
- Helping with general practice duties, from bookkeeping through to liaising with clients and HMRC
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal procedures
- Conducting internal audits, and advising on business restructuring and recovery
- General bookkeeping and advisory services
Ideal Candidate:
- A background in accountancy practice is essential
- Experience preparing accounts and managing small business clients
- Familiarity with personal and corporate tax returns
- Someone organised, reliable and able to manage their own workload
- Experience with TaxCalc is helpful but not essential
- Qualifications such as ACCA/ACA are a bonus, but experience is just as valued
What’s On Offer:
- Up to £45,000 depending on experience
- Hours: 9am–5.30pm (early finish on Fridays, office-based role)
