Rowland Recruitment is delighted to partner with a respected healthcare organisation to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager with strong experience in payroll and management accounts for an initial 6 month FTC. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, accuracy and working in a fast moving environment where their work genuinely makes an impact.
This role sits at the heart of the finance function and is ideal for someone who thrives on responsibility. You will support the delivery of a professional and proactive finance service, with a particular focus on payroll, monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
You will work closely with the Finance Manager, Senior Management Team and key internal stakeholders to ensure financial information is accurate, timely and aligned with business needs.
This six month fixed term contract has the potential to become permanent for the right person.
Key Responsibilities:
Management Accounts and Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly budget statements and financial reports
- Investigate variances and provide clear explanations
- Recalculate and reprofile budgets in response to in year changes
- Support financial controls and ensure compliance with audit and policy requirements
- Support the Budget Holders with business plans and costings for new services
- Assist with year-end processes
- Improve and streamline month end activities
- Produce monthly financial reports using Quickbooks
- Complete reconciliations, journals and management information reports
Payroll:
- Lead the monthly payroll process for a complex organisation
- Review payroll data for accuracy and ensure timely submission for processing by the accountants
- Produce payroll reports and handle employee payroll queries
- Work with HR to ensure sick pay and contractual pay are applied correctly
- Manage NHS Pension submissions and ensure updates are recorded accurately
- Maintain up to date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practice
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong experience in management accounting and payroll
- Experience working within a complex organisation
- Advanced QuickBooks, Excel skills and solid IT literacy
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with non-finance teams
- Ability to interpret and present complex financial information
- Highly organised and able to work well under pressure
- Degree educated or equivalent
- ACCA or CIMA Qualified or working towards ACCA or CIMA or equivalent
- Knowledge of NHS finance would be advantageous
What’s on Offer:
- 6 Month FTC payrolled through your Ltd Company or PAYE
- Potential for the role to become permanent for the right person
- Salary range £47,000 - £55,000 DOE
- Generous annual leave starting from 27 days per year plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service (Pro-rata for the length of the contract)
- Standard 37.5 hour working week
- Hybrid working arrangements are available where suitable, offering a balance of office-based collaboration and home working for focused tasks
