Rowland Recruitment is working with a well established professional services business that is looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, producing meaningful financial information, and taking ownership of a varied bookkeeping portfolio.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting clients with accurate financial records, management reporting, and day-to-day accounting requirements while delivering a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing bookkeeping assignments for a range of clients, ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Maintaining financial records through to trial balance stage.
- Assisting with year-end accounting processes and preparing supporting schedules.
- Processing journals including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other adjustments.
- Reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet items on a regular basis.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns in line with statutory requirements.
- Producing management accounts and financial reports to support client decision-making.
- Maintaining organised and compliant financial records with a clear audit trail.
- Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a professional point of contact.
- Using cloud-based accounting software and Excel to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with relevant accounting standards and internal procedures.
- Managing multiple priorities effectively while meeting deadlines.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or professional finance environment.
- AAT qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA.
- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and accounting processes.
- Experience using cloud accounting software, ideally Xero, together with good Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Confident verbal and written communication skills.
- A client-focused attitude with a commitment to delivering an excellent service.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while managing their own workload.
