Rowland Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join a well-established, small firm based in Thanet, East Kent. This opportunity is ideal for someone capable of managing a diverse client portfolio. It is very hands on so you must be happy doing as well as reviewing work, and be capable of offering a broad range of client services. The role requires a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a small team, directly supporting the Directors.
In this varied role, a flexible and versatile approach is key, as no two days will be the same and the role involves getting hands on in every aspect of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of clients, providing high-quality services across accounts, tax, and financial management
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy and within budget
- Offer hands-on support to the Directors, ensuring smooth daily operations
- Provide hands-on support to a small team, assisting with workload management and development
- Actively engage with clients, offering advice on tax planning, budgeting, and other financial matters
- Present management information to the Directors and contribute to business development efforts
- Ensure effective internal processes, working with the Directors to streamline workflows
Ideal Candidate:
- AAT/ACA/ACCA qualified or QBE with several years' experience managing a portfolio of clients and leading a team
- Experience of supporting small businesses, LTD Companies and partnerships is highly beneficial
- Comfortable handling client-facing responsibilities, managing expectations, and advising on financial matters
- Strong IT skills are essential, with knowledge of Xero and Digita considered a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong organisational abilities
