Rowland Recruitment is delighted to partner with a large national accountancy firm based in Kent to recruit a Personal Tax Manager, Private Client Tax. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with tax partners and fellow managers to oversee the delivery of private client tax services to a diverse client base. This includes sole traders, directors of owner-managed and family businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and trusts. The role encompasses private client self-assessment compliance, tax advisory engagements, project-based planning, and structuring initiatives. Additionally, you will engage in business development activities, working alongside the team to generate new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain robust relationships with private clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Advisory Projects: Lead and actively participate in both proactive and reactive advisory projects, collaborating with clients from various departments and offices, and reporting directly to tax partners and directors.
- Review and Supervision: Evaluate advice prepared by junior team members, ensuring it meets the standards required for partner approval.
- Tax Compliance Services:
- Oversee the personal tax compliance cycle for your client portfolio, including the preparation of tax computations, returns, and payments, while liaising with clients and HM Revenue & Customs.
- Delegate preparatory tax work to junior team members and review their output.
- Coordinate with external agents and third parties, such as investment managers, stockbrokers, and banks, as necessary.
- HMRC Enquiries: Address and manage HM Revenue & Customs enquiries related to tax returns within your client portfolio and other relevant cases.
- Client Communication: Engage regularly with clients to discuss tax changes that may impact their circumstances.
- Partner Liaison: Actively communicate with partners to raise awareness of changes in the business and personal situations of mutual clients.
- Work Organisation: Prioritise and organise your workload to align with the expectations of all partnering colleagues.
- Business Development: Lead and support initiatives aimed at generating new business, including identifying opportunities to offer additional services to clients and contacts.
- Financial Performance: Take primary responsibility for the financial performance of work conducted for your clients and other projects, balancing the need to maximise recovery while managing client expectations.
- Risk Management: Consider and manage risk in all client interactions.
- Service Delivery: Demonstrate a sense of urgency and understanding of how the quality and timeliness of work delivery impact the firm's ability to serve clients effectively.
Ideal Candidate
- Qualifications: ACA/CTA or equivalent qualification is essential.
- Experience: Proven experience at a managerial level in the professional, particularly in managing a compliance portfolio and providing tax advisory services.
