Rowland Recruitment is supporting a well established and highly regarded accountancy practice in Mid Kent in its search for an experienced Practice Manager/Senior Accountant.
This is a key hire for the firm, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the day to day running of the practice and work closely with the Partner to support the next stage of growth. The successful individual will play a central role in managing operations, overseeing client delivery, and ensuring the smooth running of the firm, enabling the Partner to step back from daily responsibilities and focus on strategic development.
You will be joining a close knit and loyal team, working with a long standing and varied client base across Kent and beyond, within a firm known for its quality service and strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the day to day running of the practice, ensuring efficient operations across all service lines
- Take ownership of a varied client portfolio including Limited Companies, Sole Traders and Partnerships
- Review and oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and financial statements under FRS 102, with occasional exposure to IFRS
- Oversee corporation tax compliance, including reviewing returns and supporting tax planning and advisory work
- Review VAT returns and ensure compliance with current regulations
- Oversee bookkeeping processes and ensure quality and accuracy across the team
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing advice and resolving queries in a timely and professional manner
- Support business advisory work including management accounts, budgeting and cash flow forecasting
- Lead, mentor and develop junior members of the team, supporting their progression and technical development
- Work closely with the Partner to improve processes, manage workflow and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm
Ideal Candidate:
- ACA or ACCA qualified or QBE with strong practical experience within an accountancy practice
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio and overseeing team workflow
- Confident in taking responsibility for the day to day running of a practice or team
- Strong technical knowledge across accounts preparation, tax compliance and client advisory
- Able to work independently, manage deadlines and take a proactive approach
- Experience using Sage, Xero and Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client focused approach
