Tax Manager - Kent

Rowland Recruitment is working with a highly regarded accountancy practice with national reach and a fantastic reputation for supporting entrepreneurial clients and ambitious professionals alike. Due to continued growth across their private client division, they’re looking to appoint an experienced Personal Tax Manager to join their tax team.

This is a key appointment and would suit a dynamic, commercially-minded personal tax expert who thrives on delivering advisory work, enjoys building relationships, and is confident managing and mentoring others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of a client portfolio, assuming a high level of responsibility and overseeing workflow planning across your team.

• Achieve revenue and profitability targets while maintaining exceptional service standards.
• Build and nurture strong, long-term client relationships.
• Lead and inspire your team as part of a people-focused strategy.
• Deliver a range of tax services for a select private client portfolio, specialising in personal tax across both compliance and advisory work.
• Spot tax-sensitive expenditure and identify broader tax issues.
• Act as a key point of contact for client queries, ensuring timely resolution.
• Collaborate with internal teams to meet deadlines and ensure HMRC compliance across portfolios.
• Work closely with the wider Private Client team to share knowledge and best practice.
• Review work prepared by junior colleagues and provide constructive feedback.
• Monitor utilisation, productivity, and WIP to maintain efficiency.
• Confidently guide and mentor team members to support their development.

Ideal Candidate:

• CTA / ACA / ACCA / CA (or equivalent) qualified.
• Broad exposure to multiple sectors is highly advantageous.
• Previous experience in personal/private client tax or mixed tax within a practice environment is essential.
• Strong technical knowledge with the ability to research complex tax legislation.
• Comfortable working across a variety of sectors and able to quickly understand the needs of a wide-ranging client base
• Commercially astute and keen to contribute to both client retention and growth
• A confident communicator, both internally and externally
